Our first team manager Jack Munday has elected to step back from his position at the end of the season, after weeks of consideration. Jack has been instrumental in taking the team and club forward with his dedication, passion and vision. He took on the first team at a very difficult time, and led it to the SCFL Div 1 title at the first time of asking, and then the furthest the club has gone in its history in the FA Vase, and last season to our highest ever Step 5 SCFL Premier League finish.
Goodbye to management, but hello to a new role!
We are relieved and delighted that Jack intends to stay fully involved at Roffey FC into the future, taking on a completely different type of role. We can’t thank Jack enough for his contribution so far since he took on the first team 3 years ago.
Jack says ‘I feel that this is the right time to move into a different role at the club. To be the manager of the first team you have to throw everything you have at it to even come close to being successful. This season I haven’t been able to do that, for various reasons. My sole purpose for being at this club is to help it grow and I will continue to do that, but in a role I am better suited to at this stage of my life. This wasn’t a decision out of the blue, it was made 5 or 6 weeks ago.
I’m so grateful to everyone that has helped me in my time as manager, from the players, the coaches, the committee, the volunteers, my partner Jaymie, but none more than Phil & Helen. Phil trusted me to take the role and help change the way things were done. We’ve had a vision from day one and that vision is still very much in our sights. With some exciting announcements coming next week, I’m really happy and proud to be working with Phil and everyone at the club for years to come.
Although it’s a goodbye to managing, it’s far from goodbye to the club.”
